A square base for a model, made of transparent plastic. The side measures 20 millimeters, which is one of the most common sizes for infantry figures. The underside is hollow, so the base is not a solid block but a shallow shell with a rim; it is therefore lighter and offers space under the model.
A base gives a figure a firm stance and a uniform footprint, thanks to which a formation lines up and measures well. A transparent build has two further advantages. First, it visually disappears, so the figure is not standing on a conspicuous black square and attention stays on the model. Second, it can be colored or lit from below, which helps with a water surface, ice and light effects. The hollow on the underside is practical in itself: into it go ballast that lowers the center of gravity and keeps a model on its feet, a magnet for transport, or the end of a wire the figure stands on.
The base alone is supplied, or rather bases in the build given. Figures, magnets, ballast and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
