A wash in a dark red brown shade for accentuating engraved lines and recesses. A product of the PLW range by AMMO.
Responsibility details are not available.
A wash is a thin toning fluid that runs by itself into engraved lines, gaps, corners and around rivets once it is applied. It stays there, while on the raised areas it is wiped away. The model gains depth and shadow that a coat of paint alone cannot give: individual panels, hatches and pressings separate visually and the surface stops looking flat. It is one of the first steps that turn a painted model into a used one.
This shade is a dark brown tuned toward red. It fits everywhere a purely black shadow would look hard and out of place: on brown and sand camouflages, on wood, on rusting sheet metal, on running gear and on suspension parts covered in dust and mud. It also helps to get a hint of corrosion into the gaps without having to mix a separate rust color.
Shake the bottle before use, the pigment settles at the bottom. Apply the wash with a fine brush straight into the line and let it run; wipe off the excess with a cloth or a brush moistened with the thinner intended for this range while it is still fresh. Work in smaller areas and always in one direction, so that the strokes look like runs from top to bottom. Before the first use, try the effect on a hidden area of the model or on an offcut, so that you know how it behaves with the paint you have on the model. The thinner, the thinning ratio and the way of cleaning are given by the manufacturer on the packaging.
Brushes, cloths and thinner are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
