Ve zmenšeném měřítku černá pohlcuje světlo a působí jako otvor. Hnědý tón si zachová čitelnou strukturu i pod ostrým osvětlením, takže střed květu zůstane rozpoznatelný. Černá se hodí spíš na drobná kvítka, kde jde jen o tečku.

Nejprve se pokryje celý střed světlejším podkladem, pak se doprostřed nanese menší dávka tmavšího odstínu. Přechod se rozetře suchým štětcem s krátkým vlasem. Postup je vděčný hlavně u slunečnic a jiných velkých úborů.

Ano, hmota nestárne. Podmínkou je jen sucho, protože vlhkost zrna spéká do hrudek. Ty se sice dají rozetřít, ale s částečnou ztrátou jemnosti, kvůli které se prášek používá.

Nelze, zrna by trysku ucpala. Nanáší se výhradně mechanicky, tedy jehlou, párátkem, suchým štětcem nebo namočením květu přímo do odsypané dávky.
