Eduard Rivets strips (negative)

A universal etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is not a kit but a modeling material — metal strips with regular rows of recessed (negative) rivets in several spacings. They serve to reproduce rows of rivets on the surface of a model where the riveting should be fine and sunk below the level of the surface. The strips are cut to the length needed and glued down, which produces realistic rows of small recessed rivets. The set has no set scale, and thanks to the various spacings it can be used from smaller to larger scales.

Use

• Choose the strip whose rivet spacing matches the scale and the subject of the model.
• Cut it to the length needed and lay it along the line where the rivets should be.
• Glue it down with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or a thin layer of varnish.
• Once painted, the recessed rivets come into their own as a wash flows into the depressions.

Who it is for

It will be appreciated by more advanced modelers who restore or add fine riveting on aircraft, vehicles and ships. Negative, recessed rivets suit places where the riveting should be suggested discreetly and should not stand above the surface — they complement the positive variant nicely. The rows then look regular and evenly spaced, which is hard to achieve by hand.

The metal set has sharp edges — work carefully, protect your eyes and keep out of the reach of children.
