An asphalt surface tends to be the most conspicuous weak point on dioramas. Either it is too black, or it is of paper and the gloss gives it away. This set deals with both at once: it carries a matte color for a roadway and a parking lot, a lighter shade for sidewalks and the tools with which an area is spread into an even layer without the strokes of a brush.
The coverage is given as roughly 46 square decimeters with the color for a roadway and approximately 9 square decimeters with the color for sidewalks. Converted, that is just under half a square meter of road, which for a station scene or a city block is amply enough.
First the route is set out and the edges leveled, then the dark surface comes in turn and the sidewalks only at the end, so that the light color is not carried into the roadway. The dividing lines are marked out only onto a dry area, as otherwise they bleed. Anyone who wants to age a roadway applies dry pigment or fine dust to it once dry and rubs it in the direction of travel.
The materials are thinnable with water, so the tools are cleaned with ordinary water and there is no working with the fumes of solvents in a room.
