A rock base from the fantasy range of figure bases. It is a free-standing part on which a figure is seated. The block of stone lifts the figure above the level of the display case and creates the impression that it is standing in open ground rather than on a smooth plate.
Most often it serves under a single display figure, whether fantasy, historical or science-fiction. The rock has no period or landscape markings, so it places the figure nowhere and lets the figure itself come to the fore. In a more extensive scene it can be made into a raised vantage point with further terrain parts built on from there.
First wash the part in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry; a degreased surface holds paint considerably better. Cut off the excess material and the marks left by production with a sharp blade a little away from the part and level the area with fine abrasive paper. Join the figure to the base with a glue suited to the material in question, and with taller figures add a wire pin to the joint.
The figure, paints, glue and material for the growth are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The manufacturer gives the dimensions of the part and the recommended preparation in the instructions for the product.
