A round display plinth from Green Stuff World in the Hazelnut shade, with an 8 cm size designation. It is a presentation accessory under finished work, not a model or a part of one. A plinth adds height to a model, separates it from the surface and marks out a place of its own in a display case or on an exhibition table.
An eight-centimeter circle is a middle size, and that is exactly why proportion matters most with it. Under a small figure it looks generous and leaves a free margin around it, while under a bulkier bust it visually recedes and starts to behave more like a base than a plinth. A proven guide is to leave a margin around the widest point of the model big enough for the work to breathe, but not so big that the eye wanders across an empty area. With a circular footprint it is also worth allowing for the fact that projecting parts of a model change the perceived proportion more strongly than with an angular shape, because a circle has no corners for an overhang to hide in.
For modelers and collectors who want to show finished work at the level at which they did it. The round shape is among the most universal, because it has no edges to compete with the outline of the model, and it carries a figure as well as smaller vehicles. In a collection where several plinths already stand, a matching shade also holds a whole shelf together.
