Sand - White Blend by Woodland is a fine loose scenic sand that on a diorama also serves as the material that joins coarser scatters together.
Responsibility details are not available.
A loose scenic medium from the scatter range. The name places it among the sands, that is among the finest materials of scenic building, and the designation Blend suggests that it is a mix. It is not a finished element but a freely poured medium that you apply to an area and fix yourself.
Fine scatters are often taken as no more than a surface finish, but on a diorama they have one further role: they fill the space between coarser grains. If you leave gravel or grit lying on its own, gaps are visible under it right down to the base and the area reads as though someone had poured it onto a table. Fine sand added from above into a coarse layer that is already fixed runs between the grains, fills the gaps and the whole area closes up. It serves just as well for the gaps at walls and curbs, for drifts in the lee and for a soft transition between two different surfaces. Before use it pays to sift the material through a fine sieve; that separates the finest fraction for surface layers from the coarser grain that suits other places, so one package yields two materials.
For modelers who build terrain from several materials and want smooth transitions between them. It comes into its own on large areas just as well as on small bases, where you are working with a single square centimeter of surface.
The material is supplied as a loose medium; glue, paints and tools are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
