Sanding Sponge Sheet #1000

Tamiya Sanding Sponge Sheet, 1000 grit

An abrasive foam sheet from Tamiya with a grit of 1000. The abrasive is laid on a springy foam backing that adapts to the shape of the surface being sanded and allows even sanding on curved surfaces and in corners, where flat sandpaper struggles to reach. A grit of 1000 belongs among the medium to finer grades - it suits smoothing the surface after coarser sanding and preparing parts before a primer or paint is applied.

Use

• Smoothing mold parting seams, sprue gate marks and small irregularities in the plastic.
• Sanding curved and intricate surfaces where a flat sanding stick will not sit down.
• Wet and dry sanding alike - wet sanding limits the dust and refines the result.
• The sponge can be cut with a modeling knife to the shape and size you need.

Who it is for

For modelers who want a cleanly prepared surface before painting - suitable as an intermediate step between coarser and very fine sanding. It can also be used on wood and softer metals.

An accessory for modelers, not a toy. For dry sanding we recommend respiratory protection and working in a ventilated area.
