Six finished plaster rock pieces, hand colored, with edges cast to join up sideways and in height. The longer side measures 17.8 to 19 cm.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package holds six pieces cast from plaster and colored by hand, so no two have the same pattern. The longer side of one casting measures 17.8 to 19 cm and the height runs between 5.1 and 9.2 cm. The surface carries bedded layers and broken edges of the kind real sedimentary rock has.
The edges are shaped so that the castings can be laid side by side and on top of each other. A single piece serves as an outcrop by a field track or the foot of an embankment; once several pieces are put together, a rock wall arises across a whole module. The joints are filled with putty or plaster slurry and toned over, and the join is then not noticeable.
If you put all six pieces into one row, you will cover a continuous length of about a meter. In two tiers on top of each other a formation higher than fifteen centimeters arises, which on a module is usually enough for a whole wall behind the track or above a road cut.
Hard plaster can be shortened with a knife, shaped with a rasp or broken into smaller pieces, and the fresh broken surface then evened out with a glaze. The castings hold on a base with ordinary PVA glue, and it is advisable to roughen the underside first. Dry pigment applied with a brush brings out a crack, whereas a thin gray glaze evens the shade out with the surrounding terrain.
