The light blue PLAYMARKER marker

A marker from the PLAYMARKER range in a light blue shade named after the sky. The color goes onto the model straight from the tip, with no brush and no palette to set up. On small elements that tells: before the paint in a bottle could be stirred, the detail is usually done and the marker closed again.

Where the color is used

A light blue suits the blue elements of clothing and gear on figures, small pieces of equipment, color coding of parts in a diorama and surfaces that are meant to read as airy and light on a model. In landscape scenes it comes into its own on water features and on backgrounds where a sky is to be suggested. It also serves well for quickly touching up places where a light coat has not covered.

How to work with the marker

• Light shades usually cover less well than dark ones, so expect a second pass once the first has dried.
• On a dark base the blue comes out pale; for a strong tone, lay a light base down first.
• Try the shade first on an offcut of plastic or on a hidden part of the model.
• Wipe the tip from time to time, so that it does not pick up paint from the surface.
• Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging for thinning, cleaning and any clear coat.
• Store the marker carefully closed, so that the tip does not dry out.
