Spray Chameleon Emerald Getaway from Green Stuff World

An effect spray from the Chameleon range. The name of the shade hints at a basic greenish tone, but with chameleon paints the most interesting thing is exactly that the surface does not behave like a uniform area: with the angle of view and with the light falling on it, the perceived shade shifts. The paint is ready to spray straight from the pressurized can, so you do without an airbrush, a compressor and thinning alike.

What is worth knowing in advance. Effect shades look different on a test offcut and different on a finished model. Before you set about the final coat, make a sample on a scrap part or on a piece of plastic card and look at it in daylight and in artificial light.

How the spray is applied

• Shake the can for at least a minute. With effect paints the pigments settle at the bottom and without proper mixing the layer will be uneven.
• Spray from a distance of roughly twenty to thirty centimeters and guide the can smoothly. Start and finish off the model.
• Work in several thin passes instead of one thick layer. The effect is then built up gradually and the surface stays smooth.
• Let the can and the model come to room temperature. In cold and damp the aerosol atomizes less well and the coat goes rough.
• After work, turn the can upside down and blow the nozzle through briefly, so that it does not clog.

The base decides the outcome. Effect paints are merciless to unevenness, because every sanding mark or fingerprint is brought out under them. Smooth and unify the surface first, therefore. Always try a coat of varnish and masking with tape on an offcut first, because not every varnish takes an effect layer without altering its look.

Who the spray is for

It will suit modelers and wargamers who want a striking effect finish on accessories, display bases, science fiction and fantasy models or on custom work, and who do not want to reach for an airbrush. For sober historical camouflage, by contrast, it is not the right choice.

A pressurized container. The contents are flammable. Spray outdoors or in a well ventilated space, away from open flame and sources of sparks, do not breathe the aerosol in and protect your eyes and skin. Do not expose the can to direct sunlight or heat and do not pierce it. Keep out of the reach of children.
