The hair is therefore flat and finished in a curve, the shape known as a filbert. It is neither a round brush drawn to a point nor a flat brush cut square, and that is exactly where the difference lies when laying paint down.

Use

• Base coats on larger areas of fuselages, beds and bases with no hard edges left by the strokes.
• Soft transitions and blending of shades on rounded surfaces and on figures.
• Applying washes, filters and glazes where a round brush is needlessly small.
• Work with acrylic, enamel and oil paints; the hair returns to its shape after washing.

Who the brush is for

For modelers looking for a step between a round detail brush and a wide flat one. The manufacturer supplies this range in sizes 2, 4, 6 and 8, so the size 6 is the second largest and manages both an area and an edge led with the side of the hair. Load the paint to no more than half the length of the hair and wipe the excess off on a palette, otherwise it runs into the ferrule and the brush loses its shape. Apply thinned paints in several thin coats; a curved finish does not leave marks as noticeable as the straight edge of a flat brush.

Safety note: do not leave the brush standing in water or in thinner; wash it out after the work and dry it hair up. Work with thinners in a ventilated room.
