A scenic accessory for dioramas and model railroad layouts in HO scale, that is 1:87, from the American label Woodland Scenics. By its name it is a set meant for connecting a transformer, that is for the place where a line branches off a pole to a consumer. It is not a model of a building or a vehicle, and it is not a power source for a layout either, but a decoration that completes a row of utility poles.
Modelers usually set up a row of poles and leave it at that, yet it is precisely the terminations and the branches that make a line believable. A real route ends nowhere into emptiness: it always leads somewhere, divides somewhere and somewhere turns down off the line to a house, a workshop or a warehouse. The accessory with the transformer gives a scene that logic and turns several poles into a working whole that makes sense even to an attentive viewer.
Place the branch where something in the scene needs current, ideally between the line and the nearest building. The route toward the building should fall slightly and hang with a sag, not taut. Disguise the foot of the pole and the ground with grass or beaten earth. The details of the contents of the package, the number of parts, the power and the wiring are given by the manufacturer on the packaging.
