An issue of The Weathering Magazine devoted to faded and worn surfaces. The English-language edition.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Weathering Magazine is a modeling magazine that concentrates on the finish and the aging of a model. Each issue takes one topic and goes through it in depth: these are not short news items but step-by-step procedures accompanied by photographs of finished work. This issue is devoted to the topic named in its title, that is to surfaces from which the original freshness has gone, and to areas marked by time and the weather.
A faded finish is one of the few things on a model that cannot be replaced by a better shade from the bottle. Paint on a real machine does not go gray evenly: most of it is lost on the horizontal surfaces exposed to the sun, on the edges and in the places where somebody rubbed against the surface every day, while in sheltered spots the shade holds. It is exactly the difference between these places that makes a model believable, and to master it, it helps to see the process broken down into individual steps. It is just as useful to see where the work can be overdone and how an overdone result can still be pulled back.
For modelers who can already build and paint a model and want to move on to the surface; the topic applies to ground vehicles, aircraft, figures and dioramas alike. The text is in English, as the designation in the title states. The length of the issue, the division into chapters and the list of example builds are given in the publication itself.
The copy itself is what is supplied. Paints, pigments, tools and models are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
