Water Effects

What it is intended for

A product from the range of accessories for creating bodies of water on a diorama, on a display base and on a smaller scene built around a single vehicle. It suits anywhere a finished scene is to get a water surface, a puddle after rain, a wet surface or a place where water runs down and drips. The exact purpose, the consumption and the recommended procedure are given by the manufacturer on the packaging.

How a body of water arises on a diorama

The color of water is not made by the product but by what lies under it. The bottom is therefore painted and shaded before anything goes on it: the shallows in a lighter shade, the deeper places in a darker one, with a smooth transition between them. Only on a base prepared like that is the surface worked. The edges deserve attention, because it is exactly at the bank that it shows best whether the surface holds a level plane and whether the water really touches the terrain.

Working with the product

Before you start on a finished scene, a test on an offcut of the base pays off. On it you can check the resulting look, the behavior at the edges and how long a layer takes to dry. For the recommended thickness of a layer, the drying time and any thinning, follow the manufacturer's instructions, because products differ from one another. Close the package carefully after work and clean your tools immediately, while the material is still fresh.
