A kit of materials for creating a sheet of water. According to the manufacturer it covers 180 cm², that is 28 square inches of surface.
Responsibility details are not available.
A water surface is the most thankless part of a diorama. Dry scenery can be corrected endlessly, whereas poured water is irreversible: once the compound has set, the bottom can no longer be redone and a bubble stays a bubble. The set deals with this problem by sparing a modeler from putting the individual preparations together and guessing whether they will get on with one another.
The manufacturer gives a yield of 28 square inches, 180 cm² in metric measure. That corresponds to a surface of roughly thirteen by fourteen centimeters, which is a stream, a pool or a small pond of the usual size of a display scene. The figure concerns the area of the surface, not the volume, so a deeper channel uses more from the package than a shallow puddle of the same plan.
The depth of water is not created on a model by the real thickness of the compound but by the color of the bottom and its fall. A blue bottom looks like painted sheet metal, whereas a dark middle with gradually lighter edges creates the impression of depth even with a layer of a few millimeters. A river or a sea in a size other than the one given can be made too, only a corresponding multiple of material will have to be allowed for.
