A publication from the Ultra Detail Guide series from Komakai, devoted to the Williams Renault FW13B Formula 1 car. Pictorial support for builders of racing car models.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Williams FW13B is a Formula 1 single-seater of the British Williams team, powered by a Renault engine. The letter B in the designation says that this was not an entirely new car but a reworked form of the previous FW13 type; this is the usual way of responding in Formula 1 to the experience of the first races without building a whole new design. The car falls into the time when the aerodynamics of single-seaters were dealt with mainly through the shape of the front end, the sidepods and the rear wing, and when bodies stayed slender compared with later cars.
The title belongs to the Ultra Detail Guide series, which Komakai devotes to the documentation of racing cars. A modeler reaches for such a publication at the moment he is building a particular car of a particular season and needs to decide what the color version looked like, where the lettering belonged and what the individual cars differed in. With Formula 1 single-seaters it is precisely on these small things that a carefully built model shows: the layout of the lettering changed during a season and the same car looked different at the start of the year from at its end.
For builders of Formula 1 models, for anyone interested in the technology of the turn of the 1980s and 1990s and for collectors of motor sport literature. It is a stand-alone publication, and a model of the car and a kit are not included, unless stated otherwise.
