A kit of the British warship HMS Hood of the Second World War period, which is assembled without gluing.
Responsibility details are not available.
HMS Hood was a British battlecruiser, that is a ship meant to carry the armament of a battleship while staying faster, at the price of thinner armor. On completion in the early 1920s she was the largest warship in the world, and between the wars she became a symbol of the Royal Navy; her visits to ports around the world were meant to show what it could do. Her fame was ended by May 1941, when Hood sailed out in the Denmark Strait against a German force and was destroyed in a short gunnery action. It is precisely this end that made her one of the most remembered ships of the war.
The kit is assembled without gluing: the pieces fit together and hold by the joint, not by glue. The build therefore consists of putting the pieces together step by step according to the instructions, and even a builder who has not worked on models before will manage it. The number of pieces, the dimensions of the finished model and whether the package holds a base or figures can be found in the manufacturer's product sheet. The scale is given by the manufacturer's product sheet, so check the dimensions if you want to stand the model beside other ships in a collection.
Work through the instructions step by step and join the pieces with straight pressure, not at an angle. On a long hull it pays to keep checking that the individual sections line up, because a deviation adds up toward the end. Stand the finished model on a flat surface out of direct sunlight and take the dust off it with a soft brush.
For anyone interested in naval history, for builders who want to build without glue, and as a gift. You need no paints and no glue for the build, and they are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
