A masking set in 1:48 scale for the model of the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-3 fighter. The pieces go on before spraying and give sharp paint edges.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Yakovlev Yak-3 was a Soviet single-seat fighter of the late Second World War. It came about by lightening and aerodynamically cleaning up an earlier design and was among the most agile machines of its day at low and medium altitudes. It was powered by a liquid-cooled Klimov V12 engine, that is, a piston engine, and the airframe was built of wood as well as metal.
The pieces are cut to the shape of the parts of the model. You stick them onto the areas that are meant to stay in their original color, then spray, and take them off once the paint has dried. They save the most work on the cockpit glazing, which on fighters of this period has a lot of framing, and in places where a line would be hard to follow with a brush.
The surface under the mask has to be dry and degreased. Press the piece down all the way round and work the edges down with a toothpick so that paint cannot run under them. Spray in thin coats; a thick coat at the edge leaves a step once the mask comes off. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried.
The masks are cut to the parts of a particular kit, so check against the manufacturer's details which Yak-3 kit the set belongs to. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
