US Army Radio Set from LZ models is a resin set of American field radio sets of the Second World War in 1:35 scale. It is a diorama accessory — neither a vehicle model nor figures are included in the package.

The set reproduces American field radio sets of the Second World War — the SCR-506, SCR-508 and SCR-510 types, that is the communication equipment fitted into tanks, armored vehicles and light utility cars. The package is made up of resin castings, wire for the cabling, a small photo-etched fret, decals with maker's plates, antenna mast bases, antennas, microphones, headsets and brackets for fitting into a vehicle. It is an accessory to a model: neither the vehicle kit nor figures are included — those are bought separately.
A diorama is not just equipment. A tank in the middle of an empty surface stays a model. But a scene in which the crew reports the situation at an unpacked radio set is a story — the viewer knows at once what is happening in the moment you have frozen. A radio set is also an exceptionally rewarding diorama element: it has cables, headsets, an antenna and transport cases, that is plenty of small details that give the eye something to read. And above all they explain the action of the scene — why the soldiers are standing just there and why they are looking in that direction.
Resin is not bonded by ordinary cement for polystyrene. Use super glue (cyanoacrylate) or two-part epoxy. Wash the parts before painting in lukewarm soapy water — that removes the mold release residue, on which paint does not hold. Cut off the casting blocks with a cutter or a saw; never snap them off. Resin dust irritates the airways, so wet-sand and work at an extraction point. Apply a primer before painting. Bend the cables from the enclosed wire so that they hang freely — that is exactly what makes a scene alive. A dark wash into the engraving and a dry brush on the edges will bring out the detail of the knobs and the grilles.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The vehicle model, figures, glue and paints are not included in the package.
