A plastic kit of the American M1A1 Abrams main battle tank in one-hundredth scale. A vehicle just under ten meters long with the gun forward comes out at just under ten centimeters in this scale, so the finished model takes up less room on a shelf than the palm of your hand and still keeps a recognizable silhouette.
The Abrams is an American main battle tank introduced in the 1980s. It differs from older machines in having a gas turbine instead of a conventional engine, an angular hull with layered armor and a low turret extended to the rear. Compared with the first Abrams, the M1A1 version brought heavier armament: instead of a 105 millimeter gun it received a smoothbore 120 millimeter gun. The crew consists of four men; the driver lies in the front of the hull and the rest of the crew work in the turret.
One-hundredth scale has become a favorite with builders who want a whole unit together and with tabletop wargamers. It is also a rewarding build for one or two evenings, on which painting and weathering can be tried out without sacrificing a large model.
What is supplied is a kit, unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and accessories are not included, unless stated otherwise.
