A kit of a tracked vehicle for carrying ammunition, built on the chassis of the Pz.Kpfw. I Ausf. A light tank, in 1:100 scale from Zebranomodel. It is an auxiliary vehicle without a turret, and so a fitting companion to models of combat vehicles and to small supply dioramas. The maker runs further versions of the Pz.Kpfw. I chassis in the same line.
The Pz.Kpfw. I Ausf. A was a light tank of the first half of the 1930s that became obsolete as a combat vehicle very quickly. Its chassis, however, went on being used as a basis for auxiliary and special vehicles. The Munitionsschlepper came about by removing the turret; the opening in the hull was closed with a simple hatch and the space created served to move ammunition between supply points and units in the field. The vehicle was unarmed or only lightly armed, and the armor protected the crew from splinters and small-arms rounds.
Assemble and paint the running gear with the tracks before you close the hull. Cut the small parts off with a sharp scalpel leaving a margin and clean them up only once they are off the sprue. For injection-molded plastic use thin modeling cement; with resin parts wash them free of release agent and glue them with cyanoacrylate. Lay the base on in a thin layer and spray the paint well thinned at low pressure. Because it is a rear-area vehicle, more pronounced dust and mud weathering on the running gear and the lower surfaces suits it, but keep the rest of the hull sparing, so that the model does not look dirty in a small scale.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
