The real subject is the giant cargo truck from the Chinese science fiction film The Wandering Earth, a machine so large that reducing it to a hundredth still gives a sizeable model. The exact number of parts, the contents of the package and the presence of decals or moving features are stated on the box.
The film subject belongs to a world where the surface of the planet is covered in ice and all logistics rest on heavy wheeled and tracked transporters. The truck is therefore designed as a working machine for extreme conditions: a massive cab set high above the chassis, a sturdy running gear, a prominent protective structure and a cargo section sized for rough service. It is precisely this raw industrial look that makes film hardware such a rewarding subject, because it allows heavy weathering that nobody would accept on a civilian vehicle.
With large machines it pays to build in subassemblies, the chassis, the cab and the cargo section, and to paint them separately while they are still accessible. Large smooth surfaces are unforgiving of flaws, so fill and sand the joints and lay down a primer before painting. Spray the base shade in thin coats and lighten the centers of the panels so that the surface is broken up visually. The weathering can take a lot: paint worn off the edges, rust where the welds and the fasteners are, a dark wash in the engraved lines and finally dust or ice pigments on the underside and in the wheel wells. Leave the clear parts and the lights until the end and glue them with a cement for clear parts.
