An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:12 scale from the Japanese maker Hasegawa. It reproduces the racing motorcycle Yamaha YZR500 in the factory specification OW98 from the 1988 season of the Japanese road racing championship in the GP500 class. The package holds plastic parts, clear elements, rubber tires and a decal sheet. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The YZR500 was the top factory special of Yamaha from the era of two-stroke five hundreds, the premier class of road racing of the day. The engine set in a light frame, the aerodynamic fairing and the large brakes made it a machine at the limit of the possibilities of the time. The OW98 version is among the characteristic machines of the end of the 1980s.
Assemble and paint the frame and the engine first, and only then fit the fairing. Transfer the sponsor logos patiently decal by decal and seal the gloss areas with a clear varnish. Imitate the chrome and polished elements with metallic paint, and accent the brake discs and the exhaust with toning.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
