Masking set 1:144 Dassault MD.450 Ouragan from the manufacturer Peewit is a modeling accessory for covering the glazing during spraying. It is not a kit of the aircraft, but an aid for building a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of masking for the model of the French Dassault MD.450 Ouragan jet fighter in 1:144 scale. It is not a model of the aircraft or a part of one, but an accessory: pre-cut masking shapes that are stuck onto the glazing before the model is sprayed. Once the masks are removed, a clean window is left under them and the frame of the cockpit has a sharp, straight edge of a kind that in this scale can hardly be achieved with a brush or with hand-cut tape.
The MD.450 Ouragan was the first French jet fighter to reach series production. It flew at the end of the 1940s and still had a straight, unswept wing, an intake in the nose and drop tanks carried at the wingtips. Besides the French Air Force it was used by other countries as well, India among them, where it flew under the name Toofani. For the modeler it is typical for its short cockpit with markedly divided frames and a low windshield drawn out toward the front.
First wash and degrease the glazing so the mask will hold. Transfer the mask dry, press it down and run a toothpick or a blunt tip along the edges, so paint does not creep underneath. The usual procedure is to spray the color of the interior or of the frames first, then the primer and the top camouflage last. Take the masks off while the paint is freshly dry, not after weeks; with a longer wait the varnish peels at the edge. In 1:144 scale the parts are very small, and fine-jawed tweezers and good light pay off.
This is an accessory for building. The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the package. Before buying, check that the set matches your particular kit.
