This is an accessory to a finished model, not a kit; plastic parts are not included in the package. The set is intended for modelers who want to finish the Li-2 in markings other than those the sheet enclosed with the kit offers.
The Li-2 is a licensed development of the American airliner Douglas DC-3, built in the Soviet Union. It differs from the original machine in a number of design details, above all the engines and their installation, the shape of some cowlings and the arrangement of the interior. After the war it served for long years in civil transport and in utility operation in central and eastern Europe, where it was among the most widespread aircraft of its category. Thanks to its long career it carried a great number of different markings and color treatments.
With sheets that have lain in store for some time, caution pays off: the film may be more brittle than you are used to. So test one small element from the edge of the sheet before you take on the large ones. Trim the decals as close to the printing as you can, so that as little clear film as possible is left to reflect on the surface. Soak them briefly in lukewarm water and let the element come along on a paper towel until the film moves freely. On the smooth skin of the Li-2 decals settle easily; care is needed only at the riveting and at the transitions to the engine nacelles, where a softener and gentle pressure with a cotton swab help. Finally coat the model so that the edges of the film disappear.
This is an accessory to a model. The kit itself, the paints and the clear coats are not included in the package.
