Responsibility details are not available.
This is a plastic kit from the science fiction range of the American manufacturer Pegasus Hobbies. The subject is not a real machine but a Martian war vehicle from the classic theme of an invasion from Mars. The word Diorama in the name suggests that the set is conceived as a whole scene, not just as the machine itself - the exact make-up of the package is given on the box.
The motif of Martian war machines comes from the literary original of The War of the Worlds and from its later film adaptations. It was the film form that gave rise to what is now an iconic shape language: an arched body carried above the terrain, an extending arm with a heat ray and a striking glowing tip. Models of this kind are built mainly for the atmosphere of the scene, so the weight of the work lies in the painting and in the base, not in the number of parts.
A science fiction subject does not tie your hands with any period camouflage specification - so work with contrast. The body looks good in metallic shades with a dark wash in the recesses and a fine dry brush on the edges. Translucent and glowing areas come into their own if you back them with silver and go over them with a clear color. Add pigments and structural pastes to the base and the terrain; a matte coat at the end evens the surface out and suppresses unwanted sheen. With larger parts it is better to test the joints dry first and only then glue.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
