This is not an aircraft model but a detail set. The resin wheels replace the landing gear wheels from the plastic MiG-29 kit in 1:144 scale. The tires are cast with a weighted, that is, flattened contact patch, as if the machine were really standing on them. The release corresponds to the early version of the aircraft.
The MiG-29 is a twin-engine supersonic fighter of Soviet design from the 1980s. It has a nose gear and two main legs that retract into the fuselage. The wheels and tires differed between the early and the later batches in tread as well as in the treatment of the rim, which is why the castings are offered in several versions; this one is intended for early machines.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap so that the mold release agent residue disappears from the surface, otherwise neither primer nor paint will hold. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a sharp scalpel, never break it off; resin cracks unpredictably. Make the cut where the contact surface of the tire touches it, because the resulting flat spot will be hidden anyway. In 1:144 scale the parts are tiny, so work over a mat and do not spread the sanding dust around the workshop; wear a mask for heavier sanding. They are attached with cyanoacrylate glue, because cement for plastic has no effect on resin. Before attaching them, check that the flattened contact patch points straight down; a tilted wheel is immediately visible on a finished model. Once the tires are sprayed, lift them with a fine pigment so that they do not look like a piece of uniform black.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
