A one-piece turned metal barrel for the 88 mm KwK 43/3 L/71 gun for a model of the Tiger II tank with the Porsche turret in 1:16 scale. The machined barrel replaces the split plastic barrel of the kit: it has a perfectly circular cross-section, no glued seams and an impressive weight. The version comes without a muzzle brake — count on using the brake from the parts of the kit.
The 8.8 cm KwK 43 gun with a barrel 71 calibers long was among the most powerful tank weapons of the Second World War and formed the main armament of the heavy tank Tiger II, known as the Königstiger. The turret with a markedly rounded front, designated after the Porsche design office, was carried by the first machines built; most of the production then received a turret with a flat front plate. The long barrel with its massive muzzle brake gave the tank an unmistakable silhouette.
Degrease the barrel before gluing and seat it with super glue (cyanoacrylate), possibly combined with two-part epoxy for a firmer joint — in a large scale a metal part has a noticeable weight. Lay on a primer meant for metal before painting; even out the transition between the barrel and the gun mantlet with weathering.
The accessory is made for a tank kit — the base model is not included in the package.
