The German Stielhandgranate 24 in 1:16 scale from Aber is a set of 15 pieces in metal. It is a modeling accessory for figures and vehicles, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds 15 miniatures of the German stick hand grenade designated Stielhandgranate 24, made entirely of metal according to the manufacturer. It is not a kit of a vehicle or a figure, but an accessory used to fit out a model that is already built or a diorama scene in 1:16 scale. Aber is a Polish manufacturer of precise modeling accessories, that is photo-etched parts and turned metal components.
In 1:16 scale every small object is clearly visible, and plastic moldings from kits tend to be soft in detail at this size. Metal, by contrast, holds sharp edges and an exact shape. The accessory is used on large figures, as part of the equipment stowed in crates and boxes, or as fittings for the interior and the external stowage spaces of vehicle models. The higher number of pieces in the package gives you room to place the objects in a scene the way stored material actually looks, rather than one at a time.
Cut the metal parts off any carrier frame with sharp nippers and level the cut with a needle file. Degrease them before painting, for instance with alcohol, otherwise the paint will not hold on metal. A primer meant for metal is essential, ideally applied in a thin coat so that it does not fill in the engraving. It is glued with super glue or two-part epoxy; ordinary cement for plastic does not work on metal. When painting, separate the wooden handle from the metal part: handle the handle with a brown base and thin uneven strokes for the wood grain, and the metal part with a dark shade with a barely perceptible metallic sheen. Add a thin wash in the transitions and fine dust to suit the setting of the scene.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
