1:24 Garage & Tool Accessory Parts

Garage accessories in 1:24 scale from Fujimi

This item is neither a model of a car nor a kit of a vehicle. It is a set of accessories for a scene, which completes the equipment of a garage or a workshop in the automotive scale of 1:24. The parts are assembled and painted just as with an ordinary plastic kit, but the result is the environment around a model, not the model itself. The particular list of objects is shown by the illustration on the box.

What the set is good for

Models of cars in a display case come across as static. As soon as at least a hint of a workshop arises around them, the scene gains scale and a story and the viewer sees at once how big the car is. The accessories prove their worth on a base under a single car, in an open garage scene with a model on a lift and as a filling of the background in larger dioramas. Because it is 1:24 scale, they can be combined with automotive kits of the usual brands and with figures in the same scale.

Assembly and painting tips

• Cut the small parts off the sprue with a sharp scalpel or nippers for plastic, so that the pins do not break off.
• The parts are more easily painted while still on the sprue, and only the places of the cut need painting in afterward.
• Metal surfaces look credible after a dry brush with silver paint over a dark base.
• Used tools and equipment need dirt, so a dark wash into the recesses and fine dust with a pigment on the horizontal surfaces pay off.
• At the end choose a matte clear coat and leave glossy areas only where oil or glass is.

Who the set is for

For builders of automotive models who want to move on from the car itself to a whole scene, and for diorama builders working in 1:24 scale. Working with small parts calls for patience and a steady hand, but in terms of assembly it is nothing complicated.

The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, a base and a model of a car are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
