A kit of the anti-tank version of the German Ju-87 dive bomber in the large 1:24 scale. The finished model is a sizable piece that has to be allowed for when you plan a display case; the large scale lets the detail of the cockpit, the engine and the landing gear be worked out to a degree for which there is no room in the usual 1:48 or 1:72. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Ju-87G was an anti-tank variant derived from a later production version of the Ju-87. Its hallmark is a pair of underwing pods with 37 mm automatic cannons, which replaced the bomb armament. In design it was a single-engine all-metal low-wing monoplane with fixed landing gear in aerodynamic fairings and an inverted gull wing. Neither the speed nor the defensive armament of the machine matched conditions in the air by the time this variant was committed, so its use was limited.
In a large scale you work differently from a small one. The cockpit will take up a substantial part of the building time, because it will be visible, so it pays to settle the belts, the instruments and the interior shades before you close the fuselage. Clamp the long fuselage and wing joints with rubber bands or clips and glue them in sections rather than all at once. Spray large areas with an airbrush at a sufficient flow rate, or you will see the transitions between passes. A primer base is practically compulsory on a model this size, otherwise differences in the absorbency of the plastic will show up in the shade. Seat the gun pods only after the wing has been painted. Count on the weight, too: a finished model is hard to transport and needs a solid base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
