A plastic kit of the Japanese sedan Mitsubishi Galant with the factory body designation A133A, model year 1978. The model in 1:24 scale fits into the most widespread automotive range, so it can be displayed next to other road cars. Aoshima is a Japanese manufacturer that consistently devotes itself to domestic car production of the 1970s and 1980s, that is to types that otherwise appear in the European range only rarely.
The Galant of the A13x series belonged to the generation that Mitsubishi offered in the second half of the 1970s as a mid-size sedan with a longitudinally mounted four-cylinder engine at the front and rear-wheel drive. The body with its boxy nose, flat sides and wide glass matches the Japanese taste of the period, and the car was sold on the home market as well as under various trade names on export markets. Today the type is above all an object of interest for collectors of period Japanese machinery.
On the boxy body of this type it pays to spend time on the parting lines along the edges and the pillars, because flat surfaces give away every imperfection. Once you have sanded them, apply a filler primer, check the surface against the light and only then spray the covering shade. Period Japanese sedans tend to have prominent chrome window frames and trim strips, which can be accentuated with masking tape and silver paint or with a thin chrome marker. The interior is brought to life by matte shades and a fine dry brush over the texture of the fabrics.
