About product

Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R 4-Door PGC10 1:24: an Aoshima kit

An injection-molded plastic kit of a car in 1:24 scale from the Japanese firm Aoshima. The subject is the Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R of the C10 generation in the four-door configuration with the type designation PGC10, in its 1970 form. The scope of the build and the contents of the decal sheet are stated on the packaging.

The real subject

Among enthusiasts the C10 generation acquired the nickname hakosuka, that is roughly the boxy Skyline, after the markedly box-like shape of its body. The GT-R version was its top variant and it appeared first in precisely the four-door configuration; the two-door coupe came after it. Under the hood worked the two-liter S20 inline six-cylinder engine with twin overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder, following on in design from the brand's earlier racing engine. At the turn of the 1960s and 1970s the car made its name in domestic circuit racing and it became the basis of the whole later Skyline GT-R line.

Building and painting tips

A boxy body tempts you into simple paintwork, but it is precisely on the flat sides that every ripple shows. Sand the parting seams, apply a filler primer and spray the paint in thin coats. The sharp trim strips around the windows and the fenders are a prominent element on this car: if they are not chrome-plated in the set, run metallic paint along them with a thin brush or use chrome foil. Leave the wheels and tires for the end so that the paint is not damaged by handling. Apply the decals onto a gloss base and seal them with a clear coat.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of classic Japanese cars in 1:24 scale.
  • Fans of the Skyline GT-R family line from its beginnings.
  • Modelers who want to practice a gloss finish on flat surfaces.
  • Builders of period scenes from the 1970s.

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It is not. This is an injection-molded plastic kit that has to be assembled, painted and finished with decals. The paints and the glue are not in the package.

The four-door PGC10 was the first configuration of the Skyline GT-R, and the coupe came after it and had a shorter wheelbase. In shape these are clearly different bodies.

A two-liter inline six-cylinder engine with twin overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder, following on in design from the brand's earlier racing engine.

If they are not in the set as plated parts, run metallic paint along them with a thin brush or use self-adhesive chrome foil cut into strips.
