The real subject is the second generation Nissan Leopard, of the F31 factory series, in the 3.0 Ultima form of the 1986 model year. The code UF31 designates the version with the three-liter V6 engine. Aoshima covers Japanese cars of the 1980s very widely and the Leopard is among the classic titles in its range.
The Nissan Leopard of the F31 generation was produced from 1986 and represented the Japanese conception of a personal luxury coupe - that is, of a car that did not stake everything on circuit performance but on comfort, equipment and a representative appearance. The Ultima form was the top trim with a three-liter six-cylinder engine with DOHC valvetrain. The body with a long front hood, thin pillars and an angular front end is characteristic of the middle of the 1980s. In its time it was a technically very advanced car and today the F31 is a sought-after piece among collectors of Japanese classics.
The real subject has large smooth areas, so the finish decides the overall impression. Sand the body over, spray a primer and apply the color with an airbrush in thin layers. Then cover it with a gloss clear coat and polish it once cured - the two-tone forms typical of this era require careful masking of the dividing line. Pick out the chrome strips and window frames separately. Build and paint the interior before closing the body; on a luxury coupe it pays to set off the textures of the seats and the instrument panel. Apply the decals onto a gloss base.
