About product

Savanna RE Amemiya FC3S RX-7 1989 in 1:24 scale

An Aoshima plastic kit in 1:24 scale. It captures the Mazda Savanna RX-7 with the factory code FC3S, that is the second generation of the coupe with a rotary engine, in the tuning configuration of the RE Amemiya workshop of 1989. The model is meant to be glued and painted. Check the contents of the box and the number of parts against the enclosed instructions.

The real subject

The RX-7 of the FC3S generation was built from the mid-1980s and differed from the angular first generation in a more rounded body and a more modern chassis. It was powered by a rotary engine of the 13B family, that is a two-rotor unit of Wankel design, which is characteristic of Mazda and stands out for its smooth running and high revs. RE Amemiya is a Japanese workshop that has long specialized in cars with a rotary engine, and you recognize its conversions by their own aerodynamic features and a striking color treatment.

Building and painting tips

Fit the aerodynamic parts dry before gluing and fill any gaps with putty, so that a flare runs smoothly into the body. Glue with thin cement for plastic and let the joints cure thoroughly before you start sanding. Treat the body with a filler primer, apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats and polish the finished paint, or else run clear varnish over it. Lay the sponsor decals and stickers onto a gloss surface and fix them with a decal softener. Finish the interior with its cage and seats before you join the body to the floor.

Who the model is for

  • followers of the Japanese tuning scene and cars with a rotary engine
  • collectors of Mazda RX-7 models across the generations
  • modelers with experience of painting bodies in 1:24 scale
  • builders who enjoy combining bright paint with rich stickers

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
