The Spandau 08/15 in 1:24 scale is a resin set from GasPatch models - according to its name two aircraft machine guns to be fitted into a large model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for modelers, not an airplane model. According to its name the package contains two pieces of the German aircraft machine gun of the 08/15 pattern, commonly known as the Spandau, cast in resin for the large 1:24 scale. In this scale the weapon is long and conspicuous, so replacing a simplified plastic part with a casting with a well-rendered jacket is among the changes with the greatest visible effect.
The machine gun of the 08/15 pattern was a lightened version of the older water-cooled machine gun, adapted for use in aircraft. The water jacket was replaced by a perforated cover cooled by the airflow, the weapon was installed fixed in front of the pilot and fired through the propeller disc by way of a synchronizing mechanism. The nickname Spandau caught on after the place of manufacture and is used in modeling literature to this day. This form corresponds to the basic variant of the range, which the manufacturer offers alongside further versions.
The perforated jacket is the main theme of the whole part - it is what decides whether the weapon will look credible. After washing and cleaning up, apply a thin coat of dark primer so that the holes do not fill in; a heavy coat closes them visually and the effect disappears. Then comes dark metal, a selective wash into the holes and gentle lightening of the edges with a dry brush. Fit the finished part only after the fuselage is complete, and dry-fit the position before gluing, because cyanoacrylate gives no second chance.
The accessory is supplied unpainted, as resin parts to be finished. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
