This plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima in 1:24 scale captures the Toyota JPN Taxi, the car that has gradually taken over the streets of Japanese cities since 2017 and become the new face of the taxi trade there. This version represents the car in white.
The Toyota JPN Taxi was designed as a purpose-built successor to the long-serving Crown Comfort sedans. A tall body with a generous entrance, a sliding door on the curb side and a step-free floor make it barrier-free transport for everyone, from families with a stroller to passengers in a wheelchair. Power comes from a hybrid system running on LPG, a solution that is kind to running costs and to big-city air alike. In its looks the car does not hide the inspiration of the famous London taxis, yet in character it is purely Japanese.
Spray the body in white over a primer and finish with a gloss clear coat; large smooth panels reward careful surface preparation. Much of the taxi interior is dark, so bring out the dashboard and grab handle details with a dry brush. The glazed areas are a prominent feature of this subject, so glue the clear parts with an adhesive that leaves no fogging, or with a glue made for clear parts. A curbside scene with the sliding door open is also effective if you decide to place the model in a small city diorama.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
