The Toyota Mark II was among the Japanese upper-middle-class sedans that won the home market over with a combination of comfortable equipment, a longitudinally mounted inline six and rear-wheel drive. The generation carrying the code designation GX61 falls into the first half of the 1980s and carries the typical angular design of that time with a pronounced line along the side and a flat rear end. The Grande designation refers to a richer trim level and the Twincam 24 addition to an engine with two camshafts and twenty-four valves. These cars are still among the sought-after classics of the Japanese car scene and have a strong position in the tuning culture as well.
