An injection-molded plastic kit of the Pointer service car in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi. The Pointer is one of the best known screen vehicles of Japanese television production of the late 1960s, and Fujimi is among the manufacturers that have long devoted themselves to this circle of subjects.
The Pointer is the car of the ground defense force from the series Ultra Seven, first broadcast in 1967. It was created by rebuilding an American sedan of the late 1950s: the body received a prominent front section with a circular searchlight, modified fenders and a glazed cabin, so that the silhouette has remained unmistakable even decades later. In the series the car served as the crew's fast means of ground transport and it became so iconic that it appeared in later installments of the series as well. The real subject is therefore not an ordinary production automobile but a screen vehicle from the science fiction genre.
This is a bodywork model in which the quality of the surface decides. Sand and fill the joints of the body thoroughly, as otherwise every scratch is visible once gloss varnish has been sprayed on. Work through a primer, the covering shade and a final gloss varnish, which can be polished once it has cured. Glue the glazing exclusively with glue intended for clear parts; ordinary cement for plastic would fog it. Deal with chromed and polished areas in metallic paint at the very end; they are harder to spray over and they tolerate masking badly. Apply the decals onto a gloss surface and fix them with a covering varnish.
