Printed tapes with a four-color lozenge pattern in 1:32 scale, intended to cover the ribs on the covered areas of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The lozenge pattern was a printed fabric covering used on German aircraft during the First World War. Irregular fields of color replaced the slow painting of camouflage schemes and served the same purpose. Narrow tapes of the same material were then laid over the wing ribs to cover the stitching of the covering; on a model it is precisely these that give the area its rhythm and show that it is covered with cloth.
Tapes with the lozenge pattern in the four-color rendering, printed in 1:32 scale. The pattern of the tape matches the pattern of the covering, so the two run into each other and the transition is not distracting on the finished model.
First finish the covered area and let it dry. Cut the tapes to the length of the rib, with a small overhang at both ends. The base has to be smooth and glossy, otherwise silvery patches will appear under the print. Soak the tape briefly, let it rest, slide it into place and press the water out with a soft cloth from the center to the edges. A decal softener helps the transfer settle on the leading edge as well as the trailing edge. Position the tapes according to the spacing of the ribs on the model, not from the edge, otherwise the deviation adds up. Finally unify the area with varnish.
For modelers of First World War aircraft in 1:32 scale who are building a machine with fabric covering and want the ribs done with a print instead of paint.
The model, paints, decal softener and varnish are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
