1:32 Aircraft Rib Tape wet transfers from the Czech manufacturer HGW: rib tapes over the ribs of the covering of First World War aircraft in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This sheet of wet transfers in 1:32 scale shows rib tapes — narrow strips of cloth with which the stitching of the covering to the wing ribs was covered on period aircraft. They add a credible detail to the covering and work as a complement to single-color as well as lozenge covering.
The wing covering of period aircraft was pulled over the ribs and stitched; the seams were covered with narrower strips of cloth that are clearly visible on the finished machine. Rib tape was used on undoped fabric as well as over lozenge camouflage.
They are wet transfers: the sheets are applied like ordinary decals onto a smooth base that is already painted and preferably overcoated to a gloss. The transfers are translucent, so the shade of the base helps determine the final tone — a lighter ground gives a lighter result. Once dry the carrier film practically disappears and only the print itself stays on the surface. A decal softener is recommended, as is overcoating the finished area.
The decals are supplied as sheets of wet transfers; paints, varnish and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
