A set for the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 in 1:32 scale: masking films for the glazing and the insignia plus two turned metal barrels.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bf 109G-6 is the most widespread form of the whole Bf 109 and more of it was built than of any other version. Its recognition sign is the two bulges on the engine cowling, which had to appear because of the bulkier breeches of the 13 mm machine guns; on account of them the aircraft earned a nickname taken from the bulges. The powerplant was a supercharged Daimler-Benz inverted V12 and a cannon led along the axis of the reduction gear fired between the propeller blades. Many of the machines flew from 1943 in the defense of the Reich, where they were fitted with gondolas carrying further cannons under the wings against four-engine bombers.
The package holds a pair of masks for the glazing, one for the outside and one for the inside, then two insignia films and two turned parts representing the barrels of the machine guns above the engine.
Paint does not hold on polished metal as readily as on plastic, because the surface is smooth and tends to be covered with a thin film from manufacture and from fingerprints. Wash the part therefore with alcohol or detergent before spraying and handle it afterwards through a paper tissue. Then comes a thin coat of primer intended for metal, best sprayed from two sides in two passes; only on that will the covering shade settle. Without primer it happens that the top layer peels off like a skin during handling or while a masking film is being pulled away. Anyone leaving the barrel in a metal shade should still rid it of grease, otherwise every touch will print into it later and the surface will color unevenly into patches.
