Three decal sheets in a large scale for the British Blackburn Buccaneer strike aircraft. Six machines, from the deck of an aircraft carrier through German and British airfields to South African desert service.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Buccaneer was created as an answer to the Soviet Sverdlov-class cruisers: a two-seat carrier strike machine able to fly below the radar horizon and hold its speed where other aircraft began to shake. Aerodynamically it owes that to its waisted rear fuselage and to blowing the flaps with compressed air from the engines, which let it land on deck more slowly than its small wing would otherwise allow. The bomb bay did not open outwards but rotated about the longitudinal axis, so drag did not grow at high speed.
That last entry is worth attention: South Africa was the only foreign operator of the type and its machines served in a setting quite different from the one the aircraft was designed for - over semi-desert instead of over the North Sea.
The package consists of three decal sheets in a scale suited to large kits. The paper is of the kind that releases after soaking in lukewarm water and is transferred onto a glossy surface. Plastic parts and a kit are not included; this is an accessory for a model the builder obtains separately.
