Aviattic — irregularly painted night lozenge pattern in 4 colors, 1:32, clear base is a decal sheet with the dark polygon camouflage of German night machines of the First World War, on which the base color of the model shows through and completes the resulting tone.
Responsibility details are not available.
This Aviattic decal sheet in 1:32 scale carries the four-color night lozenge pattern in an irregular, hand-painted version. It differs from its sister variant on a white base in being printed on a clear base: the color of the coat under the decal shows through and takes part in the resulting shade. A modeler can therefore tone the pattern – with a lighter or darker base, with fine shading of panels or with pre-shaded ribs, which will stay visible under the pattern.
The lozenge pattern – the German polygon camouflage printing of aircraft fabric from the First World War – saved weight compared with painting the whole surface and broke up the outline of an aircraft. Night machines received darkened shades and the pattern was sometimes applied by hand, with irregular polygons. The clear version of the decal moreover recalls the fact that on fabric the structure and the base of the weave showed through.
For more experienced modelers of First World War machines in 1:32 scale who want the resulting tone of the camouflage under control and who make use of pre-shading. Anyone who prefers a sure, unchanging shade will reach for the variant on a white base.
This is a decal sheet – an add-on to a kit, not a standalone model. The pattern is a historical camouflage of the First World War.
