A sizable injection-molded plastic kit of the American combat aircraft Republic F-105G Thunderchief in 1:32 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter. The model captures the two-seat Wild Weasel version intended to suppress and destroy enemy air defenses. The large scale brings a richly broken-up surface, a detailed cockpit and a range of underwing stores. The F-105G was developed from the two-seat F-105F and represented the peak of the so-called Wild Weasel machines deployed during the Vietnam War. The task of the crew was to find air-defense radars, provoke them and then destroy them with anti-radiation missiles. The machine was powered by a powerful Pratt and Whitney J75 jet engine with an afterburner and it was among the largest single-engined fighter-bombers of its day. It carried an extended set of detection avionics and antennas for electronic warfare.
In the large 1:32 scale it pays to paint and highlight the cockpit and the instrument panels completely first, and only then to close the fuselage up. Glue the glazing of the canopy with canopy glue and protect the surfaces with masks. Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Apply a gloss varnish before the decals and bring out the panel lines with a wash. Fit the underwing stores and the drop tanks only after painting. The metallic gray camouflage of the Vietnam period takes light traces of service well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
