A multimedia kit of the German Focke-Achgelis Fa 330 gyroglider (rotor kite) in 1:32 scale from FLY. It combines injection-molded plastic with resin parts and photo-etched metal and offers decals for captured aircraft examined by the Allies (France, the Royal Air Force, the USA). Because of the fine multimedia parts this is a kit for more experienced modelers.
The Fa 330 Bachstelze was not a conventional aircraft but an unpowered gyroglider, a rotor kite. During the Second World War it was flown on a cable by German submarines: the airflow spun the freely turning rotor and lifted an observer to a height of several hundred meters, from where he could see far across the surface. Once danger was spotted, the machine was hauled back down. The Allies captured several examples and put them through trials, which is where the epithet Captured comes from.
First wash the resin parts free of mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off carefully and glue them with cyanoacrylate; bend the photo-etched parts over an edge. When sanding resin, protect your airways. The structure is slender, so fit the thin struts and the rotor mast carefully. Apply a good primer and paint with an airbrush; light weathering and emphasized texture bring this simple machine of metal and fabric to life.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
