This is a standalone resin figure in 1:32 from the Aerobonus figure range, made by the Czech brand Aires. The figure represents a German military pilot of the Second World War in a flying suit, with a helmet and with an inflatable life jacket. The figure is shaped so as to complete a large model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter, whether in the cockpit, beside the fuselage or in a scene on an airfield apron.
A human figure beside a model does two things at once: it gives the viewer an immediate comparison of size and it lends a static display case a story. A life jacket was part of the usual equipment of pilots who flew over the sea or the coast, and in 1:32 it is clearly legible on the casting, straps and buckles included. Detail at this scale allows the face and the texture of the cloth to be worked out, which with figures in smaller scales is practically impossible.
First wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent so that any mold release agent disappears, otherwise the paint holds badly. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutter and sand the surfaces; when sanding resin, protect your airways, as the dust is fine. It is glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate), since ordinary plastic cement does not dissolve resin and will not hold. Apply a primer before painting. Skin and cloth model well with a brush, and the three-dimensionality of the folds is brought out by a dark wash and a dry brush on the edges.
