A Japanese fighter pilot of the Second World War, No. 1, in 1:32 scale is a resin figure from the Czech manufacturer Black Dog, intended to complete an aircraft kit or an airfield scene.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a separate figure in 1:32 scale, not an aircraft kit. Black Dog is a Czech manufacturer of resin accessories and figures that has long concentrated on sharply cast surface detail: the folds of clothing, straps and small equipment. The figure is given as the first part of a numbered line of Japanese fighter pilots, so it can be combined with further poses into a small scene beside an aircraft.
A fighter pilot of the Japanese air units wore a leather or canvas flying helmet with goggles, a light coverall or blouse and a life vest; to that belonged the parachute straps and the parachute seat pack. It is precisely these layers of clothing and straps that make the figure a rewarding object to paint, because unlike the smooth body of a vehicle it is easy to work with shades and shading on it.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that the remains of mold release agent are removed, because otherwise the paint holds badly. Cut the casting blocks away with a saw or a knife and sand the area back; protect your breathing while sanding resin. They are glued with super glue, as cement for plastic has no effect on resin. Once the primer has been sprayed on, the figure is best painted with a brush, with gradual lightening of the raised areas and darker shades in the folds; the face and the hands deserve separate attention, and a unifying matte varnish at the end.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the aircraft kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
